The Student Council comprises of two representatives from each year group. These representatives voice the opinions of the student body on matters relating to them.
The Student Council at The High School acts as a powerful voice in representing the feelings, opinions, and interests of our pupils. It is made up of representatives from every year group with elections taking place in form classes at the beginning of each academic year to determine who acts in these important roles.
Aims
- To provide a forum for students to discuss their concerns and affairs and relay such concerns to School Management.
- To support Management in the development and running of the School, e.g. contribute in a meaningful way to reviewing and implementing school policy.
- To improve the lines of communication between all school partners (Students, Teachers, Non-Teaching staff, School Management, Board of Management, Parents and the Local Community).
- To promote an environment suitable for the personal development of all students in line with the school’s Mission Statement.
- To foster and nurture important skills among students, e.g. participation, communication, leadership, problem- solving, public speaking, organisation of events, facilitation/chairing of meetings etc.
