School Notes 14/09/2019

Fáilte romhaibh go léir ar ais ar scoil!
Welcome back to all staff and students of Ballymahon Vocational School as the school embarks upon what will be another productive, successful and enjoyable year. A special welcome to the First Year students of 2019 as they begin an exciting new chapter in their lives. Our wish for each and every one of our students throughout their years here with us is that each student will develop into active and responsible citizens, eager to reap the rewards of the enquiring mind. We hope that all students will make the most of the opportunities available to them not only here in Ballymahon Vocational School but just as importantly, as they make their way in the world beyond the gates of our school community. Our students’ success is our success and the management and staff of Ballymahon Vocational School wish all students and their families a fruitful year.
A Fond Farewell: We at Ballymahon Vocational School would like to take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to our Principal, Mrs. Rosemary Johnston as she takes up her new role as Principal of Ard Scoil Phadraig in Granard. We express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Johnston for her endeavours and accomplishments during her years in Ballymahon Vocational School, and thank her for her kindness and support. We would like to wish Mrs. Johnston continued success, happiness and every blessing in the future.

Big Brother Big Sister Training: Foróige has been the central hub of youth development throughout the country since 1952, providing youth clubs and services to young people aged 10 – 18 years of age. A special thank you to Jim Maher who recently visited BVS to train students in the Big Brother Big Sister schools mentoring programme. Our mentors will be matched to their First Year peer mentee over the coming weeks in an effort to support the incoming First Years during their transition from primary to secondary school. Best wishes to all involved and thanks to Ms. Reilly for organising.
Academic Excellence Awards – Leaving Certificate Class of 2019: We wish all students from the Leaving Certificate Class of 2019 every success as they navigate the world of third level and further education, apprenticeships and work. We commend especially Ronan Farrell and Tara Noonan, who were both the worthy recipients of the 2019 Award for Academic Excellence presented by Longford & Westmeath Education and Training Board. We wish all former students the very best of luck as they begin the next exciting chapter in their educational journey. Remember our door is always open to you!
