School Notes 08/10/2020
Election of Head Boy, Head Girl and Class Prefects: Ballymahon Vocational School has a long established prefect system which encompasses the duties of Head Boy, Head Girl and a number of Class Prefects across the school community. These duties are appointed following an election process among the student peer group and these roles facilitate an important link between the students and the staff, while also representing the student body both inside and outside the school. Encouraging students of the school to become more aware of how the school is run and to constructively identify and express their needs, our prefect system allows the students a voice and to develop a sense of responsibility in and around the school. These students are fantastic ambassadors for our school and are frequently involved in caring for and integrating new students into the school community. Congratulations to each and every one of our newly elected prefects and to our newly elected Head Girl and Head Boy. We wish you a successful year ahead!

Transition Year Dramatics: At the moment our TY classes are very much engaged in their Drama module as they are writing a one act play as part of the RTE Drama Competition, one of Europe’s largest amateur theatre festivals. This hotly contested battle between drama groups from all over Ireland invariably stages some terrific productions, many of them reaching the standard of any professional company. The closing date approaches very soon so we are busy putting the finishing touches to our scripts!!
New Arrival: Congratulations to Ms. Nolan on the birth of her new baby girl. We hope you enjoy the sleepless nights!!
Covid-19: As we return to Level 3, we encourage the entire Ballymahon Vocational School community to stay safe. Each member of our community is reminded to keep washing the hands, as we wear the mask and keep that social distance. This is a hard time for everyone, so we encourage our school community to be extra kind to those around them. We can make a real difference by adhering to all the medical advice and going that extra mile by looking out for one another. We look forward to having our country safe for Santa’s arrival in December!
Thought for the Week: “It might be stormy now, but rain doesn’t last forever” Unknown
