BVS and CPR for Schools

Before the midterm students from BVS were privileged and honoured to be the only school in Ireland invited by the Irish Heart Foundation to participate in the official launch of their ‘CPR for Schools’ programme.

Last year three students, Ciara Moughty, Sarah McCormack and Emma Kearney guided by their teacher Ms. Mulcahy, carried out a very worthwhile BT Young Scientist project. The main aim of the girls’ project was to design an educational based programme that could be used in schools to raise awareness on CPR techniques, how to use an AED machine and general life saving skills.

The girls also organised a ‘CPR and Defib’ day in the school last November. The Irish heart foundation was very impressed and inspired by the hard work and dedication these girls showed in raising awareness about a very worthy cause and as a result we are eager to have them involved in the launch of their CPR for schools programme which is being rolled out now nationwide.
